Pet Food Recall Information!

Melamine has been found in wheat gluten and rice protein concentrate imported from China and used in many pet food brands. Melamine is a chemical used to make plastics and is also used as a fertilizer in Asia.

Your best option might be to buy organic pet food made by small manufacturers.

If you decide to make your own dog food, there are foods to avoid: chocolate, onions, raisins, macadamia nuts, fruit pits (cherries, apricots, peaches, plums), grapes in large quantities (>9oz), avocados, garlic, bakery products

Rice and oatmeal must be cooked before giving them to your pet.

If you choose to replace 50% or more of your dog's diet with homemade food, you should include a few ounces of a cooked organ meat to the lean protein. You must make sure that your pets get a nutritionally balanced diet. Please check with a veterinarian. (Zoey LOVES chicken livers.)

For a list of recalled pet foods, go to: www.menufoods.com/recall; http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17689821/; http://www.howl911.com/petfoodrecall.htm And check http://www.fda.gov/ regularly for updates.

Don’t forget your pets when preparing your disaster kit. The ASPCA has a number of suggestions for what to do.

Boycott Chinese Products!

On our 08-11-06 show, I spoke about the slaughter of tens of thousands of dogs in China—an extreme over-reaction to a rabies outbreak. The Humane Society is raising money to institute a rabies vaccination program in China. Contact your local Wal-Mart—much of their merchandise comes from China. Please check the tag or sticker on merchandise before buying!

From July 26-30, 2006, the communist Chinese government engaged in the beating deaths of 50,000 dogs—strays and pets alike.

Other reasons to boycott Chinese products include:

Human rights abuses including starvation of children in orphanages, forced abortions and sterilization for married women, rape of female political prisoners

Baby bibs manufactured in China and sold at Wal-Mart contain 16 times the U.S.-allowed levels of lead.

Children’s toys decorated with lead paint

Toothpaste containing antifreeze

Censorship of media and Internet access

China's Communist Party rulers aim to replace the United States as the world's leading military power.

Some say that it is time to criminalize abortion in this country.

If you would like to return to the good old days of illegal, back-alley abortions, vote Republican.
